The novel unfolds and builds into a series of crescendos much like Led Zeppelin’s song “Stairway to Heaven” when the character George Wilson clutching a paper sack with a revolver inside and winding down a road in pursuit of Gatsby ‘his shadow taller than his soul’ closer to death than life ends the promising life of Jay Gatsby we realize that the lower-class is just as unpredictable and dangerous as the upper-class.

• There was an actual program were strictly non-combatant US Army Officers could attend Oxford for about 5 months – the fact that Gatsby went to Oxford during the post-war program reveals that Gatsby was actually Not the war hero combatant he was pretending to be – actually Gatsby didn’t even have the WWI Victory medal (service between April 6, 1917, and November 11, 1918 in Europe) and had to purchase his only medal the Montenegro medal of Valor at a shop after the war.
