Note: I have suspected that the ‘supernaturally’ imposed image on the Shroud of Turin is that of Barabbas.

The murder Barabbas was released from prison instead of the innocent Jesus Christ.

There was one named Barabbas, who was in prison with rebels who had committed murder during the rebellion. – Mark 15:7 CSB

For certain Barabbas returned to Jerusalem, as the returning Scape Goat prior to the destruction of Jerusalem with tradition holding that a return of the Scape Goat would cause the destruction of Jerusalem.

The return of Barabbas to Jerusalem then a likely arrest by the Romans resulting in a similar punishment of mocking and Crucifixion that Jesus had previously received in the place of Barabbas.

There is also significant evidence that it is actually a supernatural image of Jesus Christ.
